2nd Departmental Meeting

Image
Date:3/5/2018 Venue: Foyer, Block B, FSKTM Activities: As I was constantly having more conversation and discussion in Whatsapp group, I noticed that the decision cannot be made just by using Whatsapp as a platform. Hence, second departmental meeting is required to let me discuss openly, receive suggestions and to make decision together. The motives for this meeting would be: 1. Finalized the materials and tools needed. 2. Track the progress and performance of each members for their task. 3. Assigned new tasks for each member, after they completed their current task. 4. Discuss about where and when would be the best to buy the materials The meeting is mainly divided into two parts, first is about fundraising and second part is about movie night. My task: To come out with a fundraising schedule for all the departments. And inform other HODs about their department's schedule and roles. Outcome of the fundraising: - We decided to buy at nsk food trading centr...

HOD meeting with Dr. Suraya

Image
Date: 25/2/2018 Venue: BS3, FSKTM Duration: 2 hours Activities: For this meeting, all the HOD sent their progress in presentation to be compiled. The final presentation was then presented to Dr. Suraya, she gave us some advice and suggestions along the presentation. All of us was thrilled and excited while planning for the workshop.  Marketing department presented the budget estimated based on the price survey we did . The budget was solely for the fundraising part. I had decided to separate the snacks selling part with movie night. The proposal for movie night, was being approved by Dr. Suraya and the proposal was later sent to the secretary to rent the Dewan Kuliah for movie night.  As for fundraising, project manager had suggested that we sell Yakisoba styled bread and also sausages. Project manager, Shawn, treasurer, Yong Zhu and I met up the day before this HOD meeting to further discuss about the outcome of the price survey that I did with my members...

Marketing Department meeting + price survey

Image
Date: 23/2/2018 Venue: Foyer, Block B, FSKTM Meeting duration: 1 hour Activities: For this first ever departmental meeting, my objectives were to decide on the products to sell on that day, as well as open for any suggestion for fundraising event. Not all of my department members joined in meeting that day, but fortunately about half of my members were presence for further discussion. Suggested things to sell for fundraising: - snacks (easy packages) - biscuits Since the fundraising needed to carry out before the main event (end of April) hence the fundraising would be best held on early of April. With this, I needed to survey the price once we decided on the snacks. In the last HOD meeting, HOD of media recommended me to sell potato chips as it's popular to sell. After the discussion is done, we googled up some nearby retailer shop for snacks to buy. Price Survey   Members involved: Me, Yee Wan and Pui Yoong Duration: 1 hour Venue: Lam Long Shop,  K-19, ...

First ever HOD meeting

Date: 20/2/2018 Venue: Foyer, Block B, FSKTM Duration: 2 hours Activities: A short update, we are planning to invite students age ranging from form 3 to form 5, to a workshop held in our faculty as out project. For this meeting, we were discussing few main things for the upcoming event which are the name for the event, date, tentative and fundraising event which is going to happen before the main event. 1. The name for the event - outcome: after careful thinking, it would be better to involve all members to participate along, hence the decision is left for the next meeting. In the meantime, we open for all members to give suggestions on the name of the event which later we will pick one by voting. 2. The date for the event - We were determined to make the event at the end of March and it needs to be on weekends preferably Saturday. This is mainly because secondary students were invited here for a workshop which last for one to two days.  3. Fundraising - My...

Second meeting~~

Date: 19/2/2018 Venue: MM6, FSKTM Activities: This was the second physical meeting for all the 55 students. Since the extra credit application problem is solved, the number of students registered is finally whole. Previously, we had chosen the orphanage project but the absence of most of the members made this decision not really valid. In this meeting, we are discussing about the pros and cons for the two projects that we have decided on (mentioned in the last blog post). After some debate, it was clear that the camp project to secondary schools are far more better since it would be more engaging and fun for the fellow secondary schools students. As suggested, secondary school students will have better understanding about computer science as our main objective for this project is to promote Computer Science to them. For my department, two new members were introduced to me since there didn't attend the first meeting. Later on, I created on a checklist which serves as a reminder...

Some updates~

Date:13/2/2018 Updates: All the head of departments were assigned to some tasks to complete. For Marketing Department, we were asked to design logos and maybe a T-shirt for this social engagement purpose. Also, to update on fundraising events. However, as mentioned in previous post, the project manager acknowledged that both Marketing and Media have quite similar job scope. Hence, both the departments shared the same job to design logo and t-shirt. Personally, I didn't agree on having our own t-shirt for all the 54 students. This is because our main focus right now is not designing a T-shirt for us to wear but to decide on suitable projects and the content of the projects. Hence, I reflects my opinion to the all the HODs which most of them agreed on this. The weakness I found is the overlaps job scope for the departments. It's not so big of a deal, since I contacted the HOD of Media to collaborate in designing the logo. We decided to combine both of our members design and g...

Member recruitment day!

Image
Date: 12/2/2018 Venue: MM6 Activities: On this day, I recruited a total amount of 10 members! To be honest, I am quite worried as I started to notice our jobs in Marketing are clashing with Media's. Our job scope for Marketing should be promoting our projects so that it reaches to more people. Somehow, Media is also moving in this direction. The rightmost is me, girl besides me is Yee Wan and my members My awesome new members: - Lee Yee Wan (which later on volunteered herself as Vice HOD of Marketing) - Muhammad Fauzan Bin Nordin - Ainul Balqis Binti Sawal - Mohamad Shafirol Fitri Bin Ahmad - Hana Munira Bt Baba - Muhamad Adam Thaqif Bin Md Yani - Kheong Ai Xuen - Goo Mei Ching - Loo Pui Yoong - Low Khong Cheng Even though, most of my members don't have marketing experience, but I have faith in them to work under me. As for now, marketing job scope is as listed below: - generate innovatice ideas for marketing - in charge of digital post and digital pro...

First Moment

Image
Date: 5/2/2018 Venue: MM6 Activities: This is our first ever class for social engagement class, GIG1005. For most all us, this would be the first time in which all Information System's students gathering in one class. Not to mentioned, our mentor, Dr. Suraya binti Hamid, also gave us a brief yet informative introduction for Social Engagement and it's requirements.  So, what exactly is Social Engagement? The definition of social engagement which resonates a lot to me is based on Julliet Millican, Community University Partnership Programmer, in University of Brighton, means the ability to work constructively within and between social groups to create more resilient and sustainable communities. Moving on... We were all asked to brainstorm to select a project that we are going to carry out as a group. Our group has big amount of students, which total up to 54 students. All of us, later on will be divided under four different departments.   Some projects we cam...
