Member recruitment day!
Date: 12/2/2018
Venue: MM6Activities:
On this day, I recruited a total amount of 10 members! To be honest, I am quite worried as I started to notice our jobs in Marketing are clashing with Media's. Our job scope for Marketing should be promoting our projects so that it reaches to more people. Somehow, Media is also moving in this direction.

My awesome new members:
- Lee Yee Wan (which later on volunteered herself as Vice HOD of Marketing)
- Muhammad Fauzan Bin Nordin
- Ainul Balqis Binti Sawal
- Mohamad Shafirol Fitri Bin Ahmad
- Hana Munira Bt Baba
- Muhamad Adam Thaqif Bin Md Yani
- Kheong Ai Xuen
- Goo Mei Ching
- Loo Pui Yoong
- Low Khong Cheng
Even though, most of my members don't have marketing experience, but I have faith in them to work under me. As for now, marketing job scope is as listed below:
- generate innovatice ideas for marketing
- in charge of digital post and digital promotion
- executes physical promotion
- design prints and digital marketing materials
Problem faced: Since media team is incharge of blogs, they said they might as well incharge the social media. This had come to my consent as Marketing Department suppose to be posting updates in social media for promotion purpose.
Most importantly, since the clashing of the job scope and suggestion from me and my members, Marketing Department takes up the role to organize the fundraising event.
Why fundraising?
This is mainly because both the projects that we are considering, have one similarity which is we need money to carry out the project. Hence, my department suggested fundraising event and had started to do some brainstorming for what kinds of fundraising event would attract most crowd while earning some income.
With this, Dr. Suraya had asked me to make an proposal for the fundraising event for further details.
We had further expanded the suggested projects to the following:
For Orphanage, the recommended activities:After some discussion, we have still yet come to a conclusion to decide on which project would be best to suit our motives. We kept our options open and always welcome new suggestion from fellow members.
- Motivational talk
- Educational
- Divide into groups, 1 to 1 teaching
- Teach computer (how to switch on computer, create fb account)
- Programming competition (tynker) (drag and drop) (Coding made easy)
- Kids' programming tool
- How to make own game
- Competition - Give reward to orphan
Which orphanage: scfmalaysia.org and Rawang orphanage
How to do it: Separate into groups since we have 54 students to visit different orphanage house.
Problems: Transportation, or venue if we invite them over to UM.
What we can do: Fund raising in UM and collect food, clothes for orphanage
Second suggested project: Camp in primary school
How to do it : 2 days 1 night, small games, talks
Motives: Able to also influence people around the village
What we can do: Earn money for the school for new building or new infrastructure
Later on, I had an informal meeting with the project manager to further discuss about the fundraising. for about an hour or two. While, he asked for some advice from me regarding this project. We came up with a rough conclusion that fundraising should take about 3 days to fulfill the credit hours which is 46 hours. I also finalized my report to him before submitting to the spectrum to avoid any mistakes.
